Home Staging Tips
Preparing your home for sale? Here are 5 small things you can do now to maximize your sales price.
Take down personal photos. Buyers want to be able to visualize themselves in a home. They get distracted and sometimes deterred by homes that are too personalized.
Consider the rule of thirds. When looking at display shelves, book shelves and closets, keep contents and decor to a third of the space available. That will give the impression of ample space and minimizes clutter. You’ll have to pack it up anyways, so this will give you a head start!
Make minor repairs. Look at all the things you’ve wanted to repair and just have not gotten around to. Repairing what’s broken informs the buyer that you have been a good steward of the home and it’s been well taken care of.
Add trendy accessories. Staging does not have to mean all new furniture. A new throw blanket, pillows, rugs, and neutral window treatments can go a long way! Even though many of those things don’t stay with a home, they help buyers visualize the possibilities.
Update light fixtures and hardware. Doing so is one of the most cost effective ways to freshen up a house and appeal to home buyers. Consider what is in style and do your best to match (i.e. light fixtures of a similar metal, matching doorknobs and hinges, and complimenting cabinet hardware.
We can help with this process! Every one of our home sellers gets a free staging consultation with a professional stager. She creates a custom room-by-room punch list of things (all optional) you can do to appeal to the most buyers.
